29 Dutch (former) soldiers participated in the Invictus Games 2017 in Canada. This is an international sporting event for physically or mentally injured soldiers. It was held in Toronto from September 23 to 30.
About 550 injured (former) soldiers from 17 different countries competed against each other in sports competitions. The Invictus athletes paid a high price for peace and safety: a physical and/or mental disability for life.
During the sports competitions, the soldiers competed against each other, but especially with each other to get the best out of themselves and others. For many participants, just participating in the Invictus Games is a highlight. It is the culmination of the physical and mental battle they have entered into.
A fight in which they emerged as ‘invictus’, or ‘invincible’.
We are proud that we were able to guide part of the Dutch team through our monitoring system, so that they could perform in optimal form and win beautiful medals.
